CALLED MEETING MINUTES

Thursday January 25, 2018 6:30pm

                                                                

Presiding over the meeting was Mayor Arline Chapman. In attendance were Council Members, Terry Gray- Post 1, Linda Finger- Post 2, Tim Savage- Post 3, and  Mike Harper- Post 4 and Lowell Chambers – Post 5. Also in attendance were Bob Thomson- City Manager and Megan Reid – City Clerk.

Agenda Item 1. Call to Order

Mayor Arline Chapman called the meeting to order

Agenda Item 2. Public hearing on, and consideration of resolution authorizing exercise of power of eminent domain with respect to real property and any interest in real property located at 1501 Main Street, Porterdale Georgia

Opened by Mayor Chapman

City Manager Bob Thomson made a brief presentation regarding 1501 Main Street and the future use of the land. Handout attached to minutes.

Resolution read aloud by City Attorney Tim Chambers.

Brandon Palmer attorney for 1501 Main LLC provided the Council with a proposal for a lease of the property and was not in favor of eminent domain.

Council Members, Tim Savage, Lowell Chambers, and Mike Harper asked questions of Brandon Palmer.

Rick Vaida and Amberly Lahr both made comments.

Public Hearing was closed by Mayor Chapman.

Motion 1 was made by Council member Lowell Chambers to approve the resolution authorizing exercise of power of eminent domain with respect to real property and any interest in real property located at 1501 Main Street, Porterdale Georgia and was seconded by Council member Terry Gray.

Motion Passed 3-2 with Council member Tim Savage and Council Member Mike Harper voting nay.

Council Member Mike Harper left the meeting.

Agenda Item 3. Budget Adjustment

Read aloud by City Attorney Tim Chambers.

Motion 2- was made by Council Member Linda Finger to approve the budget adjustment and was seconded by Council Member Lowell Chambers.

 

Motion passed unanimously.

 

 

Agenda Item 4. Approval opf Engineering Services agreement with Carter and Sloope

 

City Attorney Tim Chambers read key points to the contract and they are attached to the minutes.

 

Motion 3-  was made by Council Member Tim Savage to approve the contract and was seconded by Council member Terry Gray.

 

Motion passed unanimously.

 

Agenda Item 5. Adjournment

Motion 6 - was made by Council Member Terry Gray to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by Council Member Linda Finger.
