Notice of Property Tax Increase


The City of Porterdale has tentatively adopted a 2019 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 25.06%.


All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase will be held at the Porterdale City Hall, 2800 Main St., Porterdale Newton County, Georgia. The public hearings will be held on August 12th, 2019 at 6:30 p.m., August 12, 2019 at 7:30 pm and August 20th, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. The City of Porterdale will vote to adopt the 2019 Digest on August 20, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at the same location.

The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 15.723, an increase of 3.151mills. (Millage rate increase above the roll-back rate). Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 12.572 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $80,000.00 is approximately $132.00 per year and the proposed tax increase for non--homestead property with a fair market value of $80,000.00 is approximately $192.00 per year.
